Phobos-Grunt - Mission Objectives

- Deliver samples of Phobos soil to Earth for scientific research
- Complete In-Situ and Remote Science Operations on Phobos including sample analysis
- Monitor the atmospheric behavior of Mars including the dynamics of dust storms
- Study the radiation environment of Mars as well as Martian plasma and dust
- Study the origin of the Martian Moons and their relations to Mars
- Study the role of asteroid impacts in the formation of Planets
- Search for signatures of past, present or future life
- Study the impact of a 3-year interplanetary journey to extremophile microorganisms in a sealed capsule (LIFE)
