Space Junk strikes Village

February 24, 2012

_A spherical object crashed in the Brazilian village of Anapurus in the state of  Maranhão, Brazil, in the early hours of January 22. According to local media and witnesses, the object impacted at around 9:00 UTC (6am local time) and hit some trees close to a house. According to witnesses, the crash looked like lightning and thunder as the object fell from the sky.

China launches Navigation Satellite

_
China successfully completed its third Space Mission of the year – launching a Long March 3C Rocket from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center to orbit a Compass-G satellite.
Launch took place t 16:12 UTC and the Long March 3C Rocket performed as expected and delivered the Payload to Geostationary Transfer Orbit as planned. Spacecraft separation occurred about 26 minutes after liftoff. This marked the 8th flight of the CZ-3C Configuration and the 158th Long March Flight.
