Mission Blog - Flight Day 14

Check out the Flight Day 14 Video Section

The crew officially went to bed at 11:26am EDT.

7:49am EDT        MET 12/22:53:00

The Hatch of Space Shuttle Endeavour has been closed at 7:23am EDT and a docked mission of 10 days 23 hours and 45 minutes came to a close.
Inside the ISS, the team is currently going through procedures to get their hatch to the PMA-2 closed and latched.
The Shuttle Crew is already checking the Rendezvous Tools that will be used during tomorrow's operations. They will install the Centerline Camera and perform leak checks before CDR Kelly will do some reconfiguration tasks to finish up Flight Day 14 with Pre-Sleep Time.

STORRM System Failure

A Data Unit that is a part of the STORRM System encountered a malfunction earlier. DRU3 is not responding to any commands. This Unit controls the docking camera of STORRM which can not be operated at this point. The system will not recover from this failure and the docking camera can not be used during Undocking, Flyaround, Separation and Re-Rendezvous, thus resulting in a loss of valuable data for the STORRM development team. The Visual Navigation System receives and sends commands to and from DRU1 which is not connected to the failed Unit. This system is expected to operate as advertised. Drew Feustel, the STORRM operator for the mission, was instructed not to check out the system today since a possible cause of the failure might be the repetitive power cycles during these checks.

The Re-Rendezvous will be performed using only the VNS to gather data. The VNS is the essential instrument that will be used to provide attitude, range and velocity information for automatic approaches in the future.
